There is a second method of constructing a grid using a a cube as the building block.

If you draw two squares side by side and split the left hand square into four equal boxes. A line can be drawn diagonally from a corner of the square though the midpoint of the opposite side which will meet the far corner of the other square. You can extend this technique to construct adjacent perspective cubes.

1. Start by drawing a cube in perspective. Find the centre of one of the sides of the cube by drawing in diagonals
2. Draw a line extending through this centre, back to the vanishing point.
3. Extend the top of the cube back towards the vanishing point.
4. Draw a line from the corner of the cube through the midpoint so that it bisects the line we have just drawn.
5. This point coincides with the back of the next cube. Draw in the back vertical and top of the cube.
6. By using steps 1-5 one cube can be extended so that it forms a grid.
